The Expo Group Show Manager of the Year Award Winners Revealed

Irving, Texas - Nov. 3, 2005 - The Expo Group Show Manager of the Year (SMOTY) Awards will recognize five deserving members of our community who have exhibited innovative practices, a strong customer service philosophy, a commitment to success and an ability to overcome obstacles.


The 6th annual SMOTY award winners are:
> Tier I - 1 to 150 booths: Andrea Carrick, Director of Meetings, California Podiatric Medical Association
> Tier II - 151 to 300 booths: Peggy Ruh, Associate Producer, Full House Productions
> Tier III - 301 to 700 booths: Karla Little, President, KL Communications
> Tier IV - 701 to 1,500 booths: Kevin Klipsch, Senior Vice President, Exposition Management
> Tier V - 1,501+ booths: Jim Buckley, Vice President/Show Manager, Reed Exhibitions.


"The Expo Group Show Manager of the Year awards is our way of recognizing the show managers - not the shows - who are excelling," says Ray Pekowski, President and CEO of The Expo Group. "We are an innovative company focused on premier customer service, and I believe those are two great qualities in show managers. The SMOTY award winners all have proven themselves to be creative and innovative, firmly commited to the success of their customers and their show."


This year's SMOTY award winners will be honored at a gala dinner and ceremony on Nov. 30 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Atlanta. Honorees receive $1,000 for their favorite charity as well as a trophy to recognize their efforts.


The SMOTY awards are open to anyone in the industry responsible for producing a show, regardless of any affiliation with The Expo Group. This year's nominees were suggested by co-workers, vendors, exhibitors, board members and themselves.


Nominations are judged by an independent panel. The 2005 SMOTY judges are Robert Dallmeyer, President of RD International; Michael Hough, President, MRH Associates; Donna Sanford, Publisher, EXPO Magazine; Adam Schaffer, Publisher, Tradeshow Week; and Donald Svehla, Publisher, Exhibit City News.
