Irving, Texas – July 16, 2003 – "After several years of close scrutiny, the U.S. Trademark and Patent Office issued U.S. Patent 6,557,007 to The Expo Group on April 23, 2003. The Patent Office determined that the method of doing business invented by The Expo Group (Automated Convention Processing System and Method) was indeed new and innovative.
"We applied for a patent on our way of doing business in order to help the industry differentiate The Expo Group from decorating companies. Over the years, many have issued claims that they offer our same type of service and that has been confusing to show organizers. Our patent not only accomplishes this objective of differentiating The Expo Group but makes the industry aware that there are alternatives to traditional methods of servicing exhibitors.
"Other contractors are limited to processing only orders they directly fulfill at tradeshows such as material handling, labor, carpeting and furniture. Consequently, in this traditional model, an exhibitor has multiple deadline dates, discounts, and invoices to manage. But The Expo Group, in addition to providing traditional services, processes the order and payment of ancillary services -- such as electric, floral and telecommunications -- and oversees the fulfillment of these services. The Expo Group simplifies the ordering experience for exhibitors. That is Single Source®, and that is what U.S. Patent 6,557,007 protects.
"Our industry is calling for answers to rising costs and better service. The Expo Group provides exhibitors with a value-add solution -- increasing service and stabilizing costs. This could not be more profound than the recent announcement of PMMI creating PACK EXPO Services Ltd. and licensing The Expo Group’s Automated Convention Processing System and Method.
"We are not prohibiting anyone from providing a Single Source Solution®, they just need a license from us. The Expo Group developed this patent-protected method of doing business, and we will pursue all alternatives as appropriate to protect our intellectual property."
