Irving, Texas – April 30, 2003 – The Expo Group announced the U.S. Trademark and Patent Office has completed its review of the company’s Single Source® business process and software technology and issued U.S. Patent 6,557,007.

"This is monumental for our company and our industry," says Ray Pekowski, president of The Expo Group. "We have positioned our company to accept, and in fact lead, change in our industry by providing the highest level of service available with business processes and technology as an efficient and effective tool."

The Automated Convention Processing System and Method Patent protects The Expo Group’s business processes that allow companies to interact with a single company to order all the service needed for exhibiting. The Convention Processing (CoPro) system provides the ability to order in one place a variety of services from many different suppliers for a convention exhibitor, a convenience that adds value.

The newly patented business process controls supply-chain management and allows other companies to partner with The Expo Group to sell and distribute goods. The type of licensing partnership encouraged by The Expo Group’s type of patent is not uncommon in other sectors of American business. Supply chain management, vendor fulfillment reporting, financial reporting and data management service quality control functionality and integrated ecommerce processing engines equip The Expo Group and its licensed partners to serve all of an exhibitor's needs.

Inventors Randy Pekowski, Chief Information Officer, and April Hurley, Director of Project Management, co-wrote the business processes and technical specifications for CoPro and cyberservices in 1998. The inventors' extensive knowledge in order processing, customer service and supply chain management and their tenures with The Expo Group were vital to the successful implementation of the program and issued patent.

"In order to truly evaluate the total impact our patented technology has on our company, you have to look back at the company before this invention," Randy Pekowski says. "I feel this patent has strengthened our company’s foundation for exponential growth in our industry. We currently are pursuing additional patents to ensure our future success."

The database-driven software application was designed specifically for the event and association industries and has been used by The Expo Group and its clients for more than five years, drawing on experience gleaned since the company’s founding in 1987.

The Expo Group is the tradeshow industry's Single Source Solution® for exhibitors' needs. From its state-of-the-art online ordering system to general design décor for events such as Ace Hardware Semi-annual Convention and Exhibition, the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology annual meetings, The Super Show and many others, The Expo Group is a widely recognized industry leader.
