Irving, Texas – July 23, 2003 – The Expo Group has opened nominations for this year’s Show Manager of the Year awards. Now in its fourth year, this award program is open to everyone in the industry responsible for producing a show, whether it is 30 booths or 3,000.

Everyone is invited to nominate themselves or someone they feel fits the description of the best show manager of the year. This is an ideal way for exhibitors to honor the show manager who went out of their way to make the show great, or for staff members to recognize the diligence of one of their own.

Winners are selected by an independent group of publishers, consultants and industry professionals. Nominees need not be clients of The Expo Group.

Five trophies are awarded in categories based on the size of the show. Each winner receives a crystal obelisk trophy, and The Expo Group makes a $1,000 donation in the winner’s name to the charitable or educational institution of their choice.

On Dec. 3, The Expo Group Show Managers of the Year for 2003 will be presented their awards at a gala dinner and ceremony at The Stirling Club in Las Vegas. The special evening allows the industry to gather and recognize its unsung heroes.

“We started these awards to honor the show managers who make our industry great, who exemplify a can-do spirit and infuse each of their events with creativity in areas such as marketing, sales or operations,” Ray Pekowski, President and CEO of The Expo Group. “Show managers are having to do more with less and in doing so are being forced to be innovative and more resourceful. So shouldn’t they be recognized for their outstanding efforts? We think so.”
