- Hans Mecker, who joined The Expo Group this summer, already is
making a big impact on the company’s new TEG Exhibits International division
as its Director of International Sales. Mecker’s goal is to grow this custom
exhibits arm of The Expo Group as he counsels foreign and domestic companies
on their trade show presence.
“Hans has a great deal of credibility because he’s an outsider on the
inside,” says James Breen, manager of TEG Exhibits International. “For
foreign exhibitors coming to the U.S. and for Americans going overseas, Hans’
experience is invaluable. He has been to all the livable continents – and
worked on them. He has great insight into different cultures and how an
exhibitor should introduce themselves to customers in different countries.”
“My heart is in international sales,” Mecker says. “TEG Exhibits
International has strong relationships with foreign companies producing
tradeshows in many markets. This helps us better serve our exhibitor clients.
We also create bigger and better-looking exhibits, and we look at a company’s
trade show presence from all angles, including marketing programs.”
Mecker has worked on both sides of the Atlantic and Pacific counseling
companies on their marketability, of which trade shows became an increasingly
large part. He moved to the United States in 1984 from Germany and started
his own consulting firm a few years later, though he worked on and off in varying
degrees in the tradeshow industry.
Mecker and his 11-year-old son, Alex, enjoy spending time outdoors. The two
use weekends for sailing and hiking. Mecker also enjoys the fine arts. He
collects music from around the world and is interested in photography and
sketching.
